Chairs and showroom renovation!

Time for another update! Our big project right now is beautifying our showroom. With our showroom, we will have a beautiful place for you to come see our furniture. So, we've been focussing on the showroom, but we've still made a lot of furniture progress. One thing that we have to improve on is our photography skills, but we're working on that!

The next project we've been working on is our first dining tabletop! We are using a special plywood that is super strong, interesting and inexpensive. We glued it up, sanded it to 220grit and are applying the first coat of lacquer. I love seeing the character of the wood emerge when first lacquered. Next time, I'll use sanding sealer first to smooth out the minor variances in the top. This table will most likely have metal legs, still to be decided!

Showroom renovation!

Pretty quickly, Kristina and I realized that we are going to need a location to display our furniture. We were very fortunate to rent a space close to our shop, but the downside was that space loked like a dreary warehouse. Below, you'll see a picture of the space after we moved some of our furniture in to the warehouse for storage. Our plan is to separate a portion in the back to use as storage and a photography space.

Since we want to put most of our resources into our furniture, we went with 5mm underlayment plywood to cover the walls. In order to fasten the plywood onto the walls, we bought 17 2x4's, which we ripped on our table saw into 2x2s, and then screwed those into the sheet metal walls. The plywood will be nailed to the 2x2s and painted. We're still deciding on the color.

Here, you can see some of the sheets of plywood layed up on the wall. We will fill small gaps in between sheets, but we just wanted to get some of them on the wall to see how they looked. We're happy!

Thats all for now!
